A Place to Bury Strangers 10-16-09

There is some good stuff happening in the New York indie scene. A good chunk of the bands I am seeing in the next few weeks are some of the top bands from the New York scene. Last night's show was noise rockers A Place to Bury Strangers. The band clearly has been influence by the likes of My Bloody Valentine, and Joy Division. Not to say that they are rip offs. They have their own sound but it's hard to deny the influence of the buried echoey vocals and fixation with ear splitting noise.
They don't so much play a riff as they take a piece of feedback and build a song around it. The fuzzy guitars complement the pounding rhythm section. It is a marriage of chaos and it is amazing. With every song the music got a little louder; the visuals got a little wilder and the set progressed to chaos, beautiful chaos.
